Weight Loss Cardio “Warning” For Bike Riding – Read This Before You Ever Get on a Bike Again

If you believe riding a bike or a stationary bike is a good way to lose weight, you may want to read this article to learn the truth.

I’ve been wanting to get this off my chest for awhile and I figure now is as good of a time as ever. Here it goes… most “trainers” and weight loss “experts” are completely dumb.

Ah, feels good.

First, they spout off about eating more vegetables and fruits to help with weight loss. Well, duh! They then tell you how wonderful it is to drink a lot of water to boost your metabolism. Gee, really? And… to top it off… all I see the trainers in the gym do is put people on machines and tell them to do 3 sets of 8-15 reps of each exercise.

Such brilliant people. Give them a round of applause. Let’s see if I got it right. Eat less, but more healthy foods. And, exercise more… but use machines. Zzz.

Now, I went off on a tangent but I’m going to circle around to my point. I just read an article that says how great riding a bike is for weight loss. Uh, no!

Bike riding, which includes riding on a stationary bike, is about the worst form of cardio you could possibly do if you are trying to lose weight. Here’s why…

It’s inefficient. Think about it. Half of your body (your upper body) is pretty much motionless and stuck in a locked position. That’s a very unnatural way of human movement.

Sure, you can lose weight riding a bike. But it’s definitely a poor choice since it can’t replicate any natural human movements. A good rule of thumb to work with is this… if you have to sit down to do it, it’s probably not a very good exercise. Generally speaking.

Now, I won’t leave you hanging.

I’ll give you a great cardio exercise to replace bike riding with. It’s simple, you can do it at home, and you get the added benefit of it being the best exercise in the world to help rejuvenate the cells in your body.

So what is this alternative?

It’s jumping on a mini-trampoline. You know, one of those things you can get at Wal-Mart for about $25. What I really like about mini-trampolines is that you can do “mini-workouts” with them. Do 2 minutes here, 2 minutes there. That adds up to a full workout if you do 10 or more 2 minute mini-workouts throughout the day.

The best time to do them is during tv commercials. Since a normal 1 hour tv show has about 22 minutes of commercials and dead time, there’s your perfect opportunity to watch TV and get your workout in.

One last benefit.

You won’t get as sweaty with these mini-workouts. In fact, you may not even sweat at all. But don’t worry. Mini-workouts are a more efficient way to increase your metabolism since you’re stimulating it with multiple workouts instead of just 1 workout.

So there you have it. Bikes are bad and mini-trampolines are great. Ok, wait, bikes aren’t bad… they just aren’t everything they’re cracked up to be.
